Sadako and the Thousand cranes by Eleanor Coerr is about a girl named Sadako that lives in Japan and was a runner, but caught the badly disease from the atomic bombs that was released in 1945. Sadako family, on August 6, remembered the people that died from the bomb. After the day of the Big Race, she faces dizziness, but doesn't tell her parents or her best friend,Chizuko. But one day, her secret is no longer a secret and she is submitted into the hospital because of leukemia.
